EARLY WELCH POLISHED ROSE WOOD CLOCKI am pleased to offer a very vice early Welch Round Top in Polished Rosewood. If you have never had a polished rosewood clock, it is difficult to truly tell another what it is like. It is as smooth as glass but warm with life. At least that is how I see it. However, you say it this clock is stunning. The rosewood is excellent as are the top and bottom glass. Both of these are original and have the original putty holding the glass in place. The bottom glass has great color and is a real standout. Two areas for your attention are that the dial paper is a newer replacement and it is very well done. It dies have the original dial pan. The other is at some point in its life the alarm was removed. This was an add on feature common in many early clocks because alarm clock were not available. Starting in 1890’s alarm clocks became common and many alarms were removed over the next 100 years. This has no effect on performance and I include this for completeness. This clock is an early Welch, probably early 1870’s and is time and strike. Please note the label in this clock for it is great. It is working and a strong runner. It is 30 hour in running.
Dimensions: 16 by 9 ½ Finish: Appears to be original Duration: 30-hour time and strike Movement: Original and Marked Label: Great OVERALL LOOK: This is and excellent example of an early 1870 Welch Round Top American Clock. It is working and ready for your home. The wool is excellent.
