Jerome and Co. 1875 Table Clock

For your consideration, I have a very early Jerome and Co mantel clock from the 1875.  This has been recently serviced and is ready to get going.  As you can see this clock is in fabulous condition considering it is 130 years give or take a few years.  The dial has a newer face but other than this is original.

The glass and the face design I feel set this apart from the normal table clocks that you see at shows and on eBay.  It is16 ½ inches tall and 11 ½  inches wide,  30 hour running, and is time and strike on the hour. There are no repairs, additions, or subtraction and it is in near mint condition with the exception that the dial is not original.

 Please note:

On the inside, there are directions for setting up the clock.  This is in like new condition.

There is a patent date of Oct 18, 1870.

On the inside, the wallpaper is complete and near 100 percent and it is as new. (Wallpaper is the backing          you often see on the inside of clocks.  Usually it is gone or so dirty  that it hard to know what it was like when new.

The knob is correct and original.

The movement is original and correct.  It is not marked as were many of the movement

in this time period.  The reason many were not marked was so that the movement could be sold to other dealers to install in there cases.

And finally please  note the  two  pieces of  trim on either side.  These are made of Gutta Purcha.  This material was used by Jerome and the same material was used in old tintype frames .  It was also used for filling teeth and other used also.  If you look up Gutta Purcha you will know more that most.

However, you look at this very nice clock it will win your heart over. It is very much set apart from the run of the mill clocks that follow over the next 100 years.
